REVIEW: The Shopaholic Series

03:30:00

Hey there guys. The very first post of Ana’s Journal! Yaay! What better way to start off the blog then reviewing one of my very favorite book series.

If you’re like me and you love to shop and love brands like Gucci, Prada,
Louie Vuitton and so many more then these books are definitely for you. My taste in books has changed extensively. I don’t like the tragic love stories anymore. I prefer to read AND watch rom coms more and these books are definitely, without any doubt, my type. Shopaholic is written by Sophie Kinsella. I borrowed the first book from a cousin and got completely addicted to them. I love Sophie’s style of writing and have got almost all her books. She also writes by the name of Madeleine Wickham.

The first book in the series, “Confessions of a Shopaholic” or “The Secret Dream World of a Shopaholic” (depends where the book has been published) introduces us to Rebecca Bloomwood who is a financial journalist. She loves to shop and when I say love I mean with a capital L. We join Rebecca as her world gets burdened with debt, debt and more DEBT. She tries making more money and even tries cutting back but just can’t help herself from buying those gorgeous shoes, bags clothes and “the scarf”. Any girl who reads the book will easily relate herself to Rebecca.

The comical situations Rebecca keeps getting herself in will definitely get you ROFL. Throw in a handsome rich guy and VIOLA! You’re in love with the book. So get your hands on them as soon as possible. This book is perfect for a little late night reading.

Go buy the book and I’m sure you will be best friends with Becky like that *snaps finger* and by the time you’ll finish it you will be rushing to the nearest bookshop to get the next one in the series.

The series in order:
Confessions of a Shopaholic/ The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic
Shopaholic Abroad/ Shopaholic Takes Manhattan
Shopaholic Ties the Knot
Shopaholic and Sister
Shopaholic and Baby
Mini Shopaholic

You can find them at Liberty Books.  If you prefer to buy the books cheap (like me =p) then you can find them at KDA Ground and Sunday Bazaar in Karachi. If you are from Islamabad you will find them at Saeed Book Bank. In Lahore they are available at Variety Books.

There is also a movie made on this book but please please please PUH-LEEZE, read the book first. I don't recommend the movie.

Rating: 5/5
